Our world-class professors have received many national and international honors over the years. To honor that recognition we have listed those awards on our national and international recognitions page.
Each year the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering recognizes the accomplishments of faculty, staff, and students who truly make the School world class. This year has been no different. Those receiving the honors are listed on the annual faculty and students awards pages.
The school invites distinguished alumni to make a presentation as part of the symposia series. The School makes a presentation to the distinguished alumnus and records their name on a plaque outside Sloan 201. Visit the Distinguished Alumni page.
MME Student employee Rebecca Hiles receives Student Employee of year award from WSU President Elson Floyd. Rebecca works with Annette Cavalieri (also in picture) in the MME Student Services Office. Rebecca was named both the WSU and the State of Washington Student Employee of the year for 2007-2008.
Investigating Deformation and Failure Mechanisms in Nanoscale Multilayer Metallic Composites
Objectives: Uncover fatigue damage suppression and ultimate failure mechanisms of NMM composites. Develop a novel fatigue experiment for NMM composites. Establish guidelines for designing NMM with optimum properties.
Uniqueness and Innovation: Design a trimetallic NMM composite (Cu/Ni/Nb) which might possess more superior properties than the two types of bimetallic systems(Cu/Ni & Cu/Nb). This might be achieved by building a new system that combines the two bimetallic systems with their respective interface strengthening mechanisms and properties.
