Mission
The mission of the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University is to educate engineering students to be successful, world-class professionals capable of dynamic contributions in contemporary engineering practice and research and development.
Major Objectives
- The School of MME should develop world-class research in key areas that address critical scientific and technological needs including novel materials for MEMS and biomedical technologies; and future energy supplies.
- The School of MME should prepare graduates for career and leadership positions in academia, industry and national laboratories.
- The school of MME should produce ready-to-work graduates who possess sound scientific and engineering knowledge with state-of-the-art technical and social management techniques.
Educational Objectives
Graduates from MME programs shall:- possess a sound understanding in and be able to apply scientific principles, mathematics and their engineering discipline to solutions of engineering problems that will allow them to be successful in the profession or in pursuing graduate studies.
- be ready-to-work with technical knowledge, hands-on design and research experience, and possess the communication and critical thinking skills that will allow them to function successfully as members of interdisciplinary technical teams in the professional global arena.
