Cannon setup

The Washington State University Sports Science Laboratory (SSL) has been established to study the dynamics of bat and ball collisions. The results of this work help regulating agencies better understand the performance of equipment used in their games. It provides scientific information to support playing rules designed to maintain competitive balance and player safety. The lab contracts with regulating agencies and bat and ball manufacturers to verify compliance with performance limits and evaluate new product prototypes.

In addition to performing contracted work, graduate students working in the laboratory carry out various research projects that help further the understanding of sports sciences.
